Teacher Education

Introduction

The resources available through this website are designed to help to inform subject-specialist pedagogy for science, engineering and technology teachers who work in Further Education (FE).

The project team researched subject-specialist pedagogy associated with the successful teaching of science, engineering and technology, in order to produce and evaluate appropriate resources to improve pedagogical decision-making for technical education teaching in these fields. However, many of the approaches and resources are adaptable for other teaching contexts as well.

The material is presented as videos, animations and text. The resources have been arranged in appropriate sequence for individuals with different roles. You may log in to the website to track your progress through the materials for your next visit.

The resources were produced as part of a project based at the School of Education and Professional Development at the University of Huddersfield. The project also involved the University of Bolton, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) and Canterbury Christ Church University, all of which provide teacher education for teachers in England's further education sector.

Terminology: Further education is often referred to by a variety of terms, including learning and skills, vocational or work-related learning, and this terminology may be used in some of the resources.
